Mrs. Zakia Khatib approached the Anjuman with the idea of a teacher’s training college. The Anjuman promptly accepted the idea and started a pre-primary teachers training college in 1970.

The very next year it obtained Government recognition with a one year certificate course which was up-graded to a two year diploma course in 1975. From the beginning it was an English medium institute. In 1976 the medium of instruction was changed to Urdu to benefit Urdu speaking candidates and to provide trained teachers to Urdu medium schools. This has greatly helped Muslim Girls.

Finally in 1983 the syllabus was changed and the diploma holder was allowed to teach from Pre-Primary to standard VIII. It is a Government recognized course. The examination is conducted by Maharashtra State Bureau of Examination, Pune. Like all Anjuman institutions, the college enjoys Minority status. The college offers a golden opportunity to our Urdu speaking women to make a career in teaching at a very low cost.

The college is named after Mr. Moinuddin Harris who was one of the presidents and a long time functionary of the Anjuman-I-Islam. He was also a freedom fighter, MLC, school worker and community leader. In recognition of his long and valuable services to the Anjuman , the college was named after him in 1986 at a grand function.

In the beginning the college was located in Anjuman’s A.D. Bawla Female orphanage building at Lalbaug. Then it was shifted to the building of Anjuman’s High School of Commerce at Maulana Shaukat Ali Road for some time. In 1975 it was moved to Mahim Girls High School and now it is housed in Anjuman’s new five-storey building at Mahim. The college occupies the two floors of the building.it has classrooms, a guidance-cum-discussion room, staff room, library and laboratory facilities, an office and other amenities.
